Frequently Asked Questions
How does it work?
+
Wegovy is a medicated injection that you can administer yourself once a week to support your weight loss goals. Inside your body, there's a hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 (or GLP-1 for short) that plays a role in regulating your hunger. Wegovy mimics the action of that hormone, which can lead to eating less and ultimately losing weight. To get the best results, be sure to use Wegovy alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.
Will it be suitable for me?
+
For treatment with Wegovy, your BMI (Body Mass Index) must be ≥30 or ≥27 if you have at least one weight-related condition, like obstructive sleep apnea or high blood pressure. If you’re not sure what your BMI is, you can calculate it here.
Please note that if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or under 18 years old, Wegovy is unsuitable for you. We want to reassure you that we cannot guarantee you’re a suitable candidate for treatment until you’ve had a consultation with a pharmacist during the launch of Wegovy. During this consultation, your pharmacist will consider your medical history to give you personalised advice. Remember, we’re here to help you understand your options and find the best solution for you.
How much will it cost?
+
The cost of the service is still to be confirmed. More details will be published when booking becomes available.
Are there any side effects?
+
Very common side effects of Wegovy can include headache, fatigue, and gastrointestinal effects such as nausea, constipation, diarrhoea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
When you begin your treatment (subject to pharmacist consultation) you will slowly increase your dose to the maximum over a period of 4 months. This will help to lower your risk of side effects. Your pharmacist will support you through this period and discuss ways to reduce your side effects further.
